Patient Advocacy Initiative
Patients are the best advocates for each other
Navigating the healthcare system can be one of the most daunting experiences for a surgery patient. Not to mention, preparing the body for surgery, enduring the actual surgery, and rehabbing after surgery to generate the best possible outcome. On top of that, coordinating follow-up appointments and navigating the billing system can make life extremely difficult and induce a level of anxiety that patients should not have to worry about.
This is why drip healthcare is connecting surgery patients with mental health therapists to talk in a group setting about shared surgery experiences. Through the process of patients advocating for each other and offering tips about how to navigate the healthcare system, the group leader will be able to identify common themes about how patients feel throughout their surgical experience and help patients navigate a time in their life when they are extremely vulnerable to the nuances of the healthcare system.
These group conversations might sound similar to Mark Zuckerberg and Joe Rogan discussing their respective ACL reconstruction surgeries below.
